Skin Through the Ages Series – 5 Skin Care Tips for the College Student!

2 min read

Moving from home to a college dorm means a transition of habits and lifestyle. Late nights, dining hall food, and shared living quarters can all take a toll on your skin and beauty habits. To help avoid skin problems, we’ve got some tips for you!

1. Hands off – Between touching books, desks, computer keyboards at the library, college hands aren’t the cleanest. Make sure to always be washing your hands that are full of bacteria, and to not touch your face.

2. Be careful what you share – We know you may trust your friends with everything, but for the sake of your skin be careful what you share. Makeup brushes, towels, and even cell phones can be loaded with bacteria, so be sure to clean these materials and not to share others!

3. Water, water, water! – Between the dining hall soda fountains, and the weekend starting on a Thursday night, there is a lot of temptation to be drinking beverages other than water. For skin & beauty, however, make sure you are not forgetting to drink your H20.

4. Don’t sleep with makeup on – It doesn’t matter how late you get in – no excuses! Wash your face with a facial cleanser every night. Your skin will thank you in the morning.

5. Keep up with your laundry! Just as you may be lazy to wash your face at night, washing your pillowcase and sheets may not be a top priority on your list – but it should be! Pillowcases and sheets can be easily contaminated and lead to breakouts (especially if you’re guilty of tip #4!) Do yourself and your skin a favor, and wash both regularly to get rid of germs and bacteria and prevent pimples from popping up overnight. Of course, keep an overnight pimple cream on handy at all times, just in case!
